Section 01

What we are building and why

Overview

Staff'd is a two-sided mobile marketplace connecting Montreal hospitality venues with permanent front- and back-of-house staff, where the core action is a scheduled interview. This proposal covers the full fixed-scope MVP defined in your brief: native-quality iOS and Android apps, a rules-based matching engine producing configurable Fit and Profile Confidence scores, availability-window interview scheduling with a six-step reminder cascade and external calendar sync, preset-message-only communication, phone and ID verification, Google Places venue validation, full French/English bilingualism, Canadian data residency, and a basic internal admin dashboard.

Permanent hiring behaves like a leaky bucket: once a candidate is hired they leave the pool, so supply needs constant replenishment and retention lives mainly on the venue side. We designed for fast candidate onboarding and easy repeat posting by venues.

We are quoting the brief as written - nothing added, nothing silently assumed. Any requirement that is unclear or materially affects scope is flagged in the Risks & Open Questions section rather than guessed at.

Assumptions

  • Founders supply rough wireframes/visual references within the first two weeks; Webisoft owns UI/UX design end to end.
  • Interview duration default: 30 minutes, selectable on the half hour, admin-configurable.
  • Default service radius: 25 km, admin-configurable.
  • Neutral reliability treatment for new users: reliability component starts at full value and only decreases on negative events.
  • Preset message templates drafted in English by Webisoft, translated to professional French; legal review of wording and disclaimers is the client's responsibility.
  • App Store Connect and Google Play Console accounts created under founder credentials from day one; Webisoft works as invited admin.

Exclusions

  • Legal advice, Bill 96/Law 25 legal review, or privacy policy drafting
  • Marketing, ASO, photography, or copywriting outside the app
  • Ongoing third-party service fees (ID verification per-check, hosting, Google Places API - estimated at $300–$800 CAD/month at MVP scale)

Stack and the four hard requirements

Architecture

The recommended stack is chosen to satisfy the four hard requirements in your brief: native-quality apps with reliable scheduled push notifications, bilingual French/English from day one, Canadian data residency, and 100% founder ownership of source code and accounts.

The reminder cascade is server-authoritative. Notifications are driven by the backend on schedule, so they fire even if the app is killed. This directly addresses the web-wrapper concern and makes the scheduling model dependable.

Interview lifecycle

Four requirements confirmed

Native-quality iOS and Android apps with reliable scheduled push
Bilingual French/English with user-selectable language
Canadian data residency for personal data and IDs
Founders own source code, app store accounts, backend accounts, and credentials

Ownership & handover plan

Founders own everything from day one: repos live in a founder-owned GitHub org, App Store Connect and Google Play Console accounts are created under founder credentials, and all backend/third-party accounts are in your name. Webisoft is invited as a collaborator. At launch we deliver a credential inventory, architecture documentation, and runbook. Nothing needs to be transferred at the end because you already own it.

Delivery practices

Two-week sprints with demos on TestFlight / Play internal track from Sprint 3 onward
Shared Slack channel + weekly written status report
GitHub repos live in a founder-owned org from day one
All third-party accounts created under founder credentials; Webisoft invited as collaborator

Section 08

How we will work

Approach

Build the brief exactly as written, keep every configurable weight and threshold admin-editable, and flag ambiguities instead of guessing. The architecture leaves clean seams for monetization later without building any of it now.

Flag, don't guess

Any unclear requirement is raised as a question, never silently assumed. The Open Questions section lists the decisions we need from you.

Configuration-first

All weights, bands, thresholds, radii, and cancellation windows live in admin-editable config - never hard-coded.

Bilingual-first

i18n framework from Sprint 1, not retrofitted. French/English parity is an acceptance criterion for every screen.

Founders own everything

Repos, app store accounts, backend accounts, and credentials are in your name from day one. Nothing to transfer at the end.

Compliance-aware

We build to support Law 25 (residency, encryption, consent flows). Your Quebec lawyer signs off on final wording and policy.

Section 09

What we resolve before locking the schedule

Risks & Open Questions

Risks & mitigations

App Store review timing

Approval is outside anyone's control. Mitigated by the 2-week buffer and early TestFlight submissions.

ID verification provider selection

Per-check pricing and Canadian data handling vary. Locked in Week 1; ongoing verification costs are the client's.

Scheduled push reliability on Android OEMs

Aggressive battery optimization can delay notifications. Mitigated by server-driven push + high-priority FCM; caveats documented.

Calendar integration depth

Full two-way native sync with Outlook/Apple is heavier than MVP warrants. We propose ICS + Google API; confirm this satisfies the brief.

Legal dependencies on the critical path

Profile Confidence disclaimer and FR-language compliance need lawyer sign-off before store submission. Engage counsel by week 8.

Cold-start marketplace risk

A product risk, not a build risk. The analytics events we instrument exist precisely to measure liquidity.

Open questions

  • Final app name and brand (working name Staff'd) - needed before store listing prep, ~week 12
  • Interview duration and time granularity - we propose 30-minute interviews selectable on the half hour
  • Profile Confidence label and final disclaimer wording - to be lawyer-reviewed
  • Default service radius - we propose 25 km
  • Default posting mode - we recommend both passive and active as default
  • Neutral reliability treatment for new users - we propose starting at full value
  • Neutral score when no preferred skills/languages are listed - we propose 70
  • Existing brand assets (logo, colors) or should design scope include basic brand identity?
  • Preferred analytics tool, and whether analytics event data must also reside in Canada
